The owners of North Platte’s upcoming ice rink, NPIce, Inc,. are looking for 5-7 responsible adults to help facilitate activities at the skating rink this winter.

The commitment will be 1-2 nights per week for 4-6 hours for three months, December through February. Employees will drive the Zamboni or other resurfacer, manage the ice schedule, hand out skates, operate the point of sale system and supervise volunteer workers.

This position is a volunteer position and of critical importance to the operation of NPIce Rink, organizer Blu McGrath said. A background check and drug screening may be required. Should the point of opportunity exist that these positions become paid positions, volunteers may have the first opportunity to apply.

Please contact McGrath 308-636-6970, if interested in one of these positions.

McGrath said the NPIce skating rink will offer skate rental, public skating sessions, learn-to-skate classes, birthday parties and learn-to-play-hockey classes.

Other volunteer positions are available on a daily basis as well. Three to five staff members are needed to hand out skates, monitor the public skating sessions, maintain the upkeep of the facilities and locker rooms, and attend to guests at birthday parties.

These events will be scheduled daily, along with youth hockey team practices and adult hockey and broomball leagues. Teams will compete with others of the same age, from age 8 and under to 19 and under.

Groups from surrounding communities are invited to develop teams to play intra-league games with other WCNSHA organizations.

Please contact McGrath at 308-636-6970 if you are interested in starting a team.

TRuBlade Skating is fine tuning the schedule for the season with the help of West Central Nebraska Skating and Hockey Association.

Learn to skate classes and learn to play hockey classes have different age groupings. “Tot” classes are 4-6 years old. Children from 7-18 years-old are grouped together. Adults are over age 18. Skating ability is also taken into consideration as skaters may advance out of their age group.

NPIce Skating Rink is an Ice Sports Industry (ISI) affiliated rink. All class and league registrations will have an individual fee of $15-$34 for ISI membership depending on age and classification.

The fees associated with open skating sessions, equipment rental and ice/facility rental can be found at on the “Rink & Fees” page, McGrath said.
