The Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a 36-year-old suspect in a shooting in Kimball in which a young woman was killed.
The shooting occurred Monday evening, NSP spokesman Cody Thomas said in a press release Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas said the Kimball police asked the NSP for help at 8:45 p.m. MT, after responding to a shooting at 602 S. Oak Street.
The victim, Tessa Ghering, 21, was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. A suspect, William Serrano, 36, was taken into custody.
Thomas said the two were involved in a relationship.
Serrano was placed in the Scotts Bluff County jail. He was formally charged with involuntary manslaughter Tuesday afternoon.
Two children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Both were unharmed and are now in the custody of their mother, Thomas said.
The Nebraska State Patrol is leading the investigation, with help from the Kimball police and the Kimball County sheriff’s office. The investigation is ongoing.
