A woman was cited for assault Friday after police went to a parking lot at B and Jeffers to check out a reported disturbance.
Police spokeswoman Beth Kerr said officers found Maria Burke, 38, and a male victim there, along with several un-involved witnesses.
Burke allegedly punched the man, who pushed her away. Burke fell and sustained minor injuries, according to the police report.
Burke was taken to the emergency room at Great Plains Health to be treated for her injuries. After she was medically cleared, the staff at the Lincoln County jail refused to admit her.
Sheriff Jerome Kramer said Burke was refused based on her mental condition.
“We do not accept people that are a suicide risk. They need to be in treatment rather than detention,” Kramer said.
Kerr said Burke was released after she was cited for domestic assault.
