A Milford man was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday morning following a standoff in the middle of the night.

Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said the NSP was contacted around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday by the Milford police about a situation involving an armed man who was barricaded in his home.

The man reportedly pointed a firearm at officers while they conducted a welfare check at the 700 block of Fifth St. in Milford. After police called for assistance, NSP crisis negotiators responded and the SWAT unit was activated.

A warrant was issued for Ethan Foster, 22. Thomas said negotiators repeatedly tried to communicate with him, and then troopers sent a drone into the house to determine his location. Thomas said investigators were able to determine that Foster still had a firearm.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., SWAT troopers entered the home and took Foster into custody. Foster repeatedly resisted arrest by kicking and trying to hit the troopers. He was subdued and taken to the Seward County Jail.

The Milford police and Seward County sheriff’s office assisted in this arrest. The Milford police are in charge of the investigation, Thomas said.
