Shirley Frost Jeske passed away at her home in North Platte on April 27, 2024, at the age of 87.

Shirley, the daughter of Alfred and Bessie Frost, was born July 17, 1936, at Berea. She grew up in Alliance and graduated from high school there in 1954.

On May 19, 1955, Shirley married Paul Allen Jeske at Alliance. The couple moved to Texas where they lived in three different homes around Alamo then returned to Nebraska and lived in Bingham, south of Lakeside, Marsland, Scotia, Lewellen and finally North Platte in 1969. Shirley and Paul had four children and enjoyed 62 years of marriage.

Shirley went to nurse’s training and graduated in 1976 then worked at Great Plains Health in Labor/Delivery, OB and GYN, and the Nurseries. she later worked with the business office and was a PBX operator. After working for 25 years, Shirley retired.

She enjoyed reading and took up bowling after retiring. She was a member of a ladies bowling group and belonged to a circle at the Lutheran Church. Shirley looked forward to coffee with her friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and was a loving nurse to all her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Alfred and Bessie Frost; brothers, Neil and Kenneth Frost; and her sister, Vera Koch.

Shirley leaves behind her children, Paula England (Kurt) of Pensacola, Fla., Lynnette Prowett (Dave) of Gillette, Wyo., Rhonda Jeske of North Platte and Stephen Jeske (Judy) of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Holly, Heidi, Damon, Mandy, Julie, Jesse, Michele and Stephanie; 18 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandson; her brothers-in-law, Dale Jeske and Franklin McClellen; sister-in-law, Delores Jeske; and other family.

Celebration of Life will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 6, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Sipes officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The guest book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com.
