The North Platte St. Pat’s boys’ golf team will return to the state meet after they finished second in the district meet on Monday.

St. Pat’s had a score of 368 in the D-5 meet at River’s Edge Golf Course. Hemingford won by five strokes.

The Irish were led by Landon Shepard who shot a score of 86 to finish sixth. He was followed by Brecken Erickson, who finished ninth with 90.

Also for St. Pat’s, Thomas Gale, Tim Blakely and Trey Furmanski posted respective scores of 94, 99 and 107.

The Irish won the Class D championship in 2021 and finished second in 2022. But they didn’t qualify last year after the graduation of their top two players, Teegan Sonneman and Connor Hasenauer.

Sutherland finished fourth with 376, just missing the top-three finish needed to qualify for state by two strokes. The Sailors, however, will be represented by Easton Smith, who finished 10th with a 90.

The Class D state meet will be held at Lake Maloney Golf Club on May 21 and 22.
