Linda Joy Nichelson was born Sept. 11, 1953, to Donald “Dean” and Bessie (Hunter) Nichelson at North Platte. She passed away April 30, 2024, at the North Platte Care Center. She was 70 years old.

Linda grew up in North Platte and graduated from N.P.P.S. in 1971. She worked at many different places around town including: Tuckers, Arctic Circle, Nebraskan Grocery, Cedar Bowl Snack Bar, Little King and 7-11. Linda then went to work for Walmart, unloading trucks for 20 years until retiring in 2015.

Linda enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing projects, bowling and dogsitting Phoebe and Jemma. She especially loved spending time out at the lake with family and friends. When she was young, she participated in 4-H and sang in junior and high school choirs.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Bessie, brother, Gary, and nephew, Ian Nichelson.

Survivors include her brother, Mark Nichelson (Sharon) and sister-in-law, DiAnn Nichelson of North Platte; nephew, Billy (Ashley) Nichelson; and great-niece, Mila Nichelson.

Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Kem Reeder officiating. Inurnment will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation was Friday, May 3. Cremation followed.
