The North Platte Community College women’s basketball team (2-7) took a pounding Saturday with a 62-35 loss at the hands of the Southwestern Community College Lady Spartans (6-4) in Creston and then lost a heart breaker Sunday 64-59 to the Doane Lady Tigers junior varsity in Crete.

With a winter storm in the forecast, first year Coach Jeff Thurman opted to take the Lady Knights squad on the 350-mile trip Friday night to make sure they wouldn’t get stranded en route. His travel strategy worked, but did nothing to stop the offensive onslaught Southwestern laid on NPPC in the first half of Saturday’s game.
