North Platte Public Schools District is providing free breakfast, lunch and pre-packed foods to NPPSD children 18 years old and younger using a drive-thru delivery system.

The free meals began Wednesday, March 18 and will continue until further notice, spokeswoman Tina Smith said.

The drive-thru will be open Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at Madison Middle School, 1400 N. Madison Ave. Breakfast and lunch will be provided in bags.

Children must be in the vehicle to receive their bag of food. Cars should enter from Jackson Ave., which is on the west side of Madison, and go through the alley to the loading dock. Stop and pick up the bags and go out onto 14th St.

Please do not park and get out of your vehicle, nor congregate nor consume meals on-site.


Backpack program 

Pre-packed food packs will be distributed on Thursdays and Fridays beginning Thursday, March 19 until further notice. The drive-thru will be stationed at McKinley Education Center, 301 West F St.

Vehicles should enter from F street and circle in front of the McKinley Education Center, stop at the designated area, pick up your pack, then exit by turning left on Sycamore.

Please do not park and/ or get out of your vehicle. Please do not congregate or consume meals on-site.

There is a limit of two packs per vehicle. Pick-up times are listed below by school and the first initial of the last name.

Distribution — Thursdays Cody School — A-M 2-2:30, N-Z 2:30-3 Lincoln School — A-M 3-3:45, N-Z 3:45-4:30

Distribution — Fridays Jefferson — A-M 8-9, N-Z 9-10 Buffalo — A-M 10-10:30, N-Z 10:30-11 Madison — A-M 11-11:30, N-Z 11:30-noon. Adams School — A-M Noon-12:30, N-Z 12:30-1 Washington School — A-M 1-1:30, N-Z 1:30-2

From 2-3:30 p.m., other families are welcome to come get packs. Extra packs are being made and will be distributed.
