Hydraulic Project Operations Manager Cory Steinke reported Nov. 4 that Lake McConaughy is at elevation 3257.9 or 88% capacity.

Steinke also reported that dredging crews at the diversion dam near North Platte are nearing the end of the dredging season.

Steinke works for the Central Public Power and Irrigation District, which has responsibility for Lake McConaughy and several other lakes downstream.

 

Deceptive labels

Placing meat alternatives in the meat case at the grocery store is deceiving, says Congressman Roger Marshall (R-KS), who introduced the Real MEAT Act on Oct. 28.

The proposed bill suggests that slapping a prominent “imitation” label on plant-based “beef” would prevent confusion and ensure consumers can make informed decisions in choosing between beef and imitation meat.

 

Sutherland village resignations

The Sutherland village clerk and supervisor resigned on Oct. 27. The village trustees were generally unhappy with the employees’ job performances, board member Ken Main said.

The deputy clerk and deputy supervisor have stepped up to fill their shoes, Main said, while the trustees considers their options to replace the employees.
