Lorraine Rosane, formerly of North Platte, died peacefully in Longmont, Colo. at her daughter’s home on Dec. 9, 2023.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1927 in Petersburg, Neb. to William and Julia Julich Leifeld and she married Raymond Rosane on April 6, 1948.

Lorraine worked 10 years in the dietary department at Great Plains Regional Medical Center preparing salads and desserts, but her specialty was baking pies. Additionally, she volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 25 years and faithfully attended St. Patrick’s Church.

Lorraine was known for her infectious smile and a fondness for all things pink and sparkly. She bragged about her perfect attendance during her 12 years at St. John’s school in Petersburg. She loved country western music, dancing, Wheel of Fortune, sharing stories from her time in San Francisco, and most importantly, prayer.

She will forever be remembered for her tasty homemade pelmeni’s, a family favorite.

On her final day, Lorraine was surrounded by love, with over 50 people sharing their affection, prayers, stories, and a heartfelt song from across the country. She left this world knowing she was loved as she crossed over to heaven. Whenever you wear pink or hear a Johnny Cash song, think of Lorraine and smile.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Evelyn; four sisters, two brothers, and her parents.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Robert Rosane (Christy) and Richard Rosane (Chris) of North Platte, Gladys Morrow of Longmont and Elaine Rosane (Mike Holt) of Alma; nine grandchildren, Angela Blaesi and Jenna Odell, both of North Platte, Nathan Rosane of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tyler Rosane of Boone, Iowa, Brian Lecher of Apache Junction, Ariz., Heather Salazar of Denver, Colo., Sean Morrow of Longmont, Colo., Ryan Rosane of Omaha, Robert Fletcher of Wilcox; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dolly Baker (Feller Baker) of Neligh.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at Harbor Lights at 711 N. Lake Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your local Meals on Wheels.
