State troopers arrested two people Thursday after they found 130 pounds of marijuana and a firearm during a traffic stop on Thursday near Waco in eastern Nebraska.

NSP spokesman Cody Thomas said around 4 p.m., a trooper saw a Ford Explorer fail to signal a turn after exiting I-80 at Waco, and pulled the SUV over.

Thomas said the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity during the stop, which led to a search of the vehicle. They found the marijuana in duffel bags in the cargo area as well as a handgun.

That volume of marijuana is about $300,000, according to an estimate by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

The driver, Alexander Garcia, 24, of Summerfield, Fla. and passenger, Ashley Gornto, 29, of Belleview, Fla, were charged with possession of more than a pound of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during a drug violation, and not having a drug tax stamp.

Garcia and Gornto were taken to the York County jail.
