The three-pointers were falling for the North Platte Bulldogs on Friday when they beat Minden, 71-56, at the Dawg House.

NPHS (9-11) started to distance themselves by taking a 12-7 lead when Will Coe made a three from the left corner with three minutes left in the first quarter.

Minden (7-15) made some shots to keep the deficit from growing larger in the first quarter and they were down 16-10 at the end of the first.

But the Bulldogs pushed the lead up to double figures at 26-15 early in the second quarter with baskets by River Johnston and Luke Zimbelman that followed another three Coe made.

The margin stayed around that point for the rest of the half and it was 37-25 when both teams went into the locker room.

North Platte put the game out of reach in the third quarter by expanding their lead to around 20. It was 57-39 entering the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, all four of the Bulldogs’ seniors — Zimbelman, Coe, Treven Hipwell and Blake Barner, received an ovation from the crowd as they were subbed out in their last home game.

After closing out the regular season by defeating the Whippets, NPHS will play in districts on Feb. 27 against an opponent to be determined.
