Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol found more than $11,000 in counterfeit U.S. currency Thursday during a traffic stop in Cedar County.
A trooper clocked a 2014 Chrysler minivan at 99 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone on Nebraska Highway 20 in northeastern Nebraska at approximately 6:30 a.m., Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said.
The trooper found the driver Robert Nixon, 42, of Cleveland was driving on a suspended license, Thomas said.
Nixon was arrested and his vehicle searched, which turned up $11,450 in cash. The U.S. Secret Service determined the cash was counterfeit, Thomas said
The Dixon County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this effort.
Nixon was taken to the Cedar County Jail and the investigation is ongoing, Thomas said.
