Things kept getting worse for the North Platte First National Bank Seniors as their first game of the season against Kearney wore on in their 21-2 loss Wednesday night.

Kearney scored the first run of the game in the first inning when Keegan Thurston drew a bases loaded walk from Slade Renfrow on the payoff pitch with two outs.

In the second inning, Kearney added to the lead when Jared Wegner reached on a Peyton Vieyra error at third base. Then with two outs, Cole Staab singled to right field to score another run before Thurston drew another bases loaded walk from Renfrow to make it 4-0.

It all started to go downhill for North Platte in the third. Renfrow was replaced by Braden Stiffler after he allowed the first two batters on base and Kearney scored seven more runs in the inning.

The First Nationals got their first run of the game in the fourth on a passed ball by catcher Mason Casper. But Kearney buried them in the bottom half by scoring 10 more runs.

The Seniors are slated to open their home schedule Sunday when they host Ogallala.
