On Friday, April 20 from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., NebraskaLand National Bank will host its annual community Shred Day at the Main Bank, 1400 S. Dewey.
Shredding services will be available with a recommendation of 1-2 bags of items, or up to five standard sized boxes per person, spokeswoman Danielle Remus said.
Items can include scam mailings, bills, banking statements, credit card offers and more. NebraskaLand National Bank will provide lunch.
A freewill donation is encouraged to benefit the Lincoln County Law Enforcement Memorial. NebraskaLand National Bank will match all funds raised up to $2,500.
With an increase in internet scams and fraudulent behavior, the importance of identity theft prevention and awareness has increased as well.
Practicing prevention methods such as shredding bank statements and personal information helps decrease fraud and theft.
NebraskaLand National Bank encourages the community to take necessary precautions to protect their identities.
