During the evening hours of Thursday, May 3, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol conducted alcohol inspections at businesses in Dawson County.

A total of 12 businesses were checked.

Two sold alcohol to a minor for a non-compliance rate of 17%, NSP spokesman Cody Thomas said.

All of the businesses checked each minor’s ID. The businesses included gas stations, liquor stores, bars and restaurants.

The businesses that failed the inspection were:

  • El Paraiso of Cozad
  • Conoco Travel Plaza of Lexington

NSP performs alcohol inspections in an effort to keep alcohol out of the hands of youth. Businesses which fail the inspection are referred to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor are cited for procuring alcohol for a minor.

This project was supported in whole or part by a grant under the Strategic Prevention Framework PFS Grant, Region II Human Services, SAMHSA, and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Thomas said.
