By winning over half of the events, the North Platte St. Pat’s boys’ track and field team won the Jim Mather Invitational in Arapahoe on Wednesday.

The Irish scored 143 points to win going away. Cambridge was second with 71 and Bertrand was third with 68.

Two of St. Pats’ first place finishes came from Mason Giebler, who won the 100 and 200 meters with respective times of 11.22 and 23.01 seconds.

Giebler also contributed to the Irish winning the 4×100 relay by running the leadoff leg. Giebler, James Heirigs, Jackson Roberts and Jaxon Knisley won at 44.6 seconds. They defeated Bertrand by two seconds.

Knisley won the 110 meter hurdles at 14.18 seconds. Heirigs was second at 15.71.

Roberts won the long jump at 20’7 1/2″.

St. Pat’s also won the 4×800 relay. Sam Troshynski, Dimitri Pettit, Jarrett Miles and Coltan Ham had a time of 8:44.27. They defeated Cambridge by 18 seconds.

Miles won the 1600 meters at 4:45.05. Pettit was seven seconds behind him to finish second.

Logan Winder won the high jump at 6’2″.

Lady Irish sprint relay victorious

The St. Pat’s girls finished sixth with 46 points. Elm Creek won with 142 and Cambridge was second with 73 1/3.

The Lady Irish’s lone first place finish came from their 4×100 relay. Sophia Baca, Madi Genatone, Jamie Murtaugh and Gabby Swift won at 52.24 seconds, beating Cambridge by three-quarters of a second.
