North Platte High won three events in districts on Tuesday.

Katie Titus and Keyala Williams won the girls’ discus and long jump and the boys’ 4×800 meter relay finished first at the A-2 district meet in Papillion.

Titus won the discus with a distance of 139’0″. The sophomore defeated Caroline Carrico of Papillion-LaVista by seven feet.

Titus’ throw was a new school record, breaking Karen Oerter’s mark of 138’1″ from 1981. The throw was also the best throughout the four districts in Class A and it would’ve won the Class A title at last year’s state meet.

Williams won the long jump at 17’1″. She won by two and a half inches over Kamarah Walker of Lincoln High.

The North Platte girls finished sixth among eight teams with 34 points. Papillion-LaVista won 140 1/2 points and Millard West was second with 122.

The Lady Bulldogs had three others qualify for next week’s state meet. Mackenzie Bruns finished fourth in the pole vault at 10’0″. Kori McClain finished fifth in the 800 at 2:20.65 and Aryaddna Reyna finished seventh in the discus at 111’8.

The top four at districts automatically qualify for state but McClain and Reyna made it as additional qualifiers with their marks.

Distance relay leads Bulldog boys

The North Platte boys’ 4×800 relay of Rian Teets, Luke Tegtmeier, Jack Knapp and Aiden Hawks finished first at 8:12.62. They beat Millard West by five and a half seconds.

Their time was the second best in the four districts behind Lincoln Southeast, who had 8:06.44.

Three of the runners from the relay also qualified individually. Hawks finished fourth in the 800 at 1:58.99. Teets was an additional qualifier in the event. He came in sixth at 1:59.72.

Tegtmeier qualified in the 1600 meters with his fourth place finish of 4:31.63.

Layton Moss finished second in the pole vault at 13’2″. Liam McGlynn of Elkhorn South was first at 15’0″.

Jahven Reyes and Drake Ferris finished fourth in the 100 meters and discus. Max Negley was an additional qualifier in the triple jump at 42’10”, which was good enough for fifth place.

The Bulldogs finished sixth out of seven teams with 43 points. Millard West was first with 135 and Elkhorn South was second with 107.
