I didn’t know these were such evil little varments.
I thought they were just cute little green bugs.
Didn’t NP have this epidemic about 6/7 years ago?
Weldon, they officially were reported in North Platte last summer. They are making their way across the country from the east, forestry officials say.
Welding, they’ve been a problem for 30+ years. People and municipalities keep planting them so the borer has an unlimited food source.
The Emerald Ash Borer is native to China and likely hitched a ride to the U.S. in wooden crates. It was identified in Michigan in 2002. Other borers can invade Ash trees, but the EAB is one of the most damaging insect pests ever to invade North American Forests.
