NebraskaLand Bank is proud to celebrate the graduation of 35 students as they complete their journey through the NebraskaLand University Financial Literacy Scholarship Program.

Sen. Mike Jacobson, President and CEO of NebraskaLand Bank, will address the graduates and award scholarships and certificates on behalf of the bank at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22.

The ceremony will be held in the third floor banquet room at NebraskaLand Bank’s main bank at 1400 S. Dewey.

The graduates, who have completed the required attendance and coursework in the past six months, will be presented with a certificate and a $250 academic scholarship.

Each student was required to complete six classes in order to graduate.  In addition, they were required to complete an essay judged by a bank committee. The students with the highest scores will be the recipients of scholarships of $1,000, $750, or $500.

This year’s essay winners will receive more than just a scholarship. Kelly Lammers, Director of Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance, will give the top three essay writers a special commemorative coin, a keepsake and inspiring reminder that financial literacy requires dedication, hard work, and commitment to build something lasting.

The winners will be announced at the graduation ceremony and the top winner will be asked to read their essay.

“We are proud of what our students have accomplished, and we are confident that the financial skills and education they obtained at NebraskaLand University has given them the foundation they need to be financially successful later in life,” Jacobson said.

NebraskaLand University is a six-course financial literacy program designed to educate students on budgeting, savings, credit, loans, career and wealth development, identity theft protection, and more.

The curriculum uses a combination of established financial literacy materials and lesson plans created and instructed by senior and executive bank officers.
