The Nebraskaland Days board of directors gave their highest honor Friday night to Scott Orr, a long-time member of the community, during the PRCA Hall of Fame Buffalo Bill Rodeo.

Orr received the award after dedicating extensive time and resources to not only Nebraskaland Days but other community organizations as well.

“Scott has been a valuable member of our organization since he joined the board in 2007,” Executive Director David Fudge said. “We’re thrilled to be able to recognize him for his contributions.”

Orr is a North Platte High graduate and retired member of the Armed Forces. He moved back to his home in North Platte from Kansas after his tour of duty, to take over the family business — Orr’s Dry Cleaning.

He joined the Nebraskaland Days board and was instrumental in completing several projects that improved fan experience.

“I remember Scott always being out here tinkering with something while he was a member of our board,” Fudge said. “When Scott commits to something he never quits thinking about how he can be helpful.”

Orr has continued to volunteer tirelessly since his board term ended.

Orr and his wife Cyndee will serve as grand marshals of the Nebraskaland Days parade on Saturday.

The Dale Studley Memorial Award is named after a founding member of the Nebraskland Days board. Studley worked tirelessly to help get the celebration on firm ground in the late 1960s.

The award is given annually.
