While most of the area was celebrating Nebraskaland Days, the North Platte police were working.

Police fielded 893 calls for service from June 10-June 23 and arrested about 70 people, police Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson said.

The 70 arrests included 10 people who were wanted on previous charges. In addition, officers charged 19 people with theft.

Johnson said three people were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. One person was charged with meth possession and one for failure to register as a sex offender.

He said 19 motorists were cited for traffic related offenses during the two weeks.

The North Platte Fire Department received 174 calls for service during the two weeks, including 13 to standby at events in case medical care was needed. Johnson said EMTs had “multiple medical contacts at the (Wild West) arena” and six people required medical treatment.

One of them, a 54-year-old man, was taken by ambulance from the arena during the concert on Saturday to Great Plains Health with injuries that were sustained in an assault. Johnson said the man refused to press charged against his assailant.

On June 21-22, during the two nights of the concerts, police charged five people with minor in possession of alcohol.

Also, Johnson said about 25 people were escorted out of the arena property on those two nights.

Johnson also said the Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies charged nine people with minor in possession of alcohol during the two weeks.
