Nita Susan (Wroot) Miller, 68, of North Platte went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on April 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family after losing her battle against endometrial cancer.

She was born in Hastings to Marie Jane (Batterman) and Eugene Willis Wroot. She lived there, then Arkansas, later in Colorado with her husband Jim, and settling in North Platte with her family and loved ones close by.

Nita was a devoted member of Parkview Nazarene Church. Her mission though, was to bring everyone to The Lord…She was a devout person of Faith…Praying for and helping anyone who had a need.  Her prayer group was a very special part of her life. She learned from them, and she shared with them. She walked her walk with the Lord in everything she did.

Nita was the best person. She always had a happy smile on her face. When you spent time with her, most likely that time was spent exchanging stories of kids, grandkids, her niece and her nephews, and most recently, the newest addition to her circle of love, her great nephew. Her pride in their lives, their accomplishments and their families was evident in everything around her. Pictures on the walls, lots of pictures… on the fridge…she made each of them feel special. Casey, Kylie, Kade, Mike and David, who affectionately call her “Dig” or “Nini”, tell stories of her spoiling them rotten, venturing out in the middle of the night to pick up ice cream, always being there for them in every situation.

Her family was her heart. And she will always be theirs. She and Jim had a wonderful life. Married 38 years, they raised their family and built a life of love and respect for each other. She loved their “Little House on the Prairie.” Gardening, both food and flowers, brought her joy. Being outdoors, with all of the things God had put in her view, gave her strength when hers was failing.

Nita Miller was a fighter for the lives of all unborn children. She was a vital part of the pro-life movement, making sure that everyone in charge of anything to do with it knew her name. As she steps through the Gates of Heaven, she will hear the words “Well done, Good and Faithful Servant.”

Nita was predeceased by her parents and her brother Timmy Eugene Wroot.

She is survived by her husband, James Arnold Miller; daughters, Kelli Marie (Jeff) Haines and Heidi Susan Miller; brother, John Michael (Kathy) Wroot; sister-in-law, Kim Wroot; granddaughters, Rachel, Aubrey and Tasha; grandsons, Luke and Izac; niece, Kylie Wroot; nephews, Casey (Brooke), Kade, Mike and David Wroot; great nephew, Skipp Walker; and many other beloved relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 18 at Parkview Nazarene Church in North Platte. Rev. James Trippett and Pastor Brett Hathaway will officiate. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be from noon-7 p.m., Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, who is assisting the family.
