The North Platte FNBO Juniors couldn’t slow down a powerful Kearney attack on Tuesday in their 19-3 loss at Bill Wood Field.

North Platte pitcher Mason Stine got the first two outs of the first inning pretty easily but getting the third proved to be much more difficult.

Kearney scored their first run when Devin Carrell doubled to left field. Another run scored on an infield single by Talyn Lewis. Tryston Engelhardt hit a two-run double to center to make it 4-0.

The Nationals (5-20) went down quietly in the bottom of the first against pitcher Draden Reidy. Kearney continued to pick up steam in the second, scoring five more runs.

North Platte showed some life in the bottom of the second. They got on the board when Austin Lindsay was hit by a Reidy pitch with the bases loaded. Two more runs came home when Jaxon Peters reached base on a wild throw by shortstop Jake Bosshamer trying to turn a double play.

But Kearney could not be stopped as Cade Freeze came in to pitch for Stine. Kearney scored seven runs in the third and three in the fourth against Connor Stiffler to finish the game.

Next, the Juniors will play at Fort Morgan, Colo. on Wednesday.
