Donald Leroy Hubert, 84, of North Platte,passed away April 15, 2024 at his home in North Platte. 

He was born Dec. 12, 1939 to Albert and Dorothy Ruth (Blanchard) Hubert, in Belleville, Kan.

Don graduated from high school in 1956.  He entered the United States Army in 1959, he was stationed in Germany.  After his discharge he returned to North Platte. 

Don met Martha Fisher and they were married on Oct. 6, 1963 at the Nazarene Church in North Platte.  He worked as a mechanic at Green’s in Grand Island, Stars in Lincoln and in Fremont.  Donald then moved back to North Platte where he hired out as a machinist with the UPRR. 

Don always had side jobs and a Thursday-Friday trash job around the area.  Don started Trap Shooting in 1954, shooting over 250,000 registered targets.   He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Always helping others, especially with their mechanic issues.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, North Platte, Nebraska; 4 children, Tammy (Tom) Brown, North Platte, Jeff Hubert, North Platte, Hope (Sam Webb) Hubert, Sioux City, Iowa, Riley (Megan Wiskus) Hubert, Lincoln; grandchildren, Whitney (Aubin Kananga) Brown, Omaha, Nate Brown, North Platte, Mariah Brown, Overland Park, Kan., Cora (Martin) Scufka, North Platte,, Dondre (Roiann), Sioux City, Iowa, Dajo Adam (Madison) Hubert, Sloan, Iowa, Jalin (Tyler McPherson) Webb, Sioux City, Iowa, Kiyu Webb, Sioux City, Iowa, Kaylee Suhorepetz, Sioux City, Iowa, Colby Hubert, Stapleton, Nebraska, Raelynn Hubert, Lincoln, Bentley Hubert, Lincoln, Kaycee Hubert, Lincolna; 7 great-grandchildren, Faith, Terry, Jaykub, Dontae, Nash, Lorenzo “Enzo”, Ellis; brother, Bill (Mary) Hubert, Ewing, Nebraska; sister, Roberta Gray, North Platte,; along with many other family members and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Albert (Dorothy) Hubert; brother, Harold Hubert; sister, Alberta Weaver.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorials to the Hope Cancer Society.  

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, April 22, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service at 2:00 p.m., Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, with full military honors.  Pastor Vaughn Fahrenbruck will officiate.  Visitation will be from noon – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
