Charles K. Trumbull, 84, of Callaway died on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway.

He was born on June 12, 1939 to Ray and Grace (Latin) Trumbull in Stapleton. Charles attended school at McPherson County High School and graduated with the class of 1957. He joined the National Guard in 1957 and proudly served his country until 1963 when he was honorably discharged.

He was united in marriage to Elsie Parks on Sept. 12, 1966 in Bridgeport, Neb. To this union three children were born: Kent, Dan, and Willy. The family moved to Callaway from Grand Island in 1982. Charles was a heavy equipment mechanic and worked several years for the Custer County Department of Roads.

Charles loved his Model A, you would see Charles cruising around town, participating in parades and showing his car at shows. Charles and Elsie loved to travel and go on vacations. He always looked forward to spending time with his buddies at the café for coffee and lunch. Family was important to Charles, and he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He always enjoyed following their activities as well.

Charles was a past member of the Golden Rod Car Club, Flatlanders and Model A Restorer’s Club.

Survivors include his sons, Kent (Molly) of Callaway, Dan (Jolleen) of Callaway and Willy (Christie) of Broken Bow; eight grandchildren, Sandy (Mike) of Broken Bow, Allison of Callaway, Kelsey (Rusty) of Arnold, Brittany (Devon) of Callaway, Natalie (Quincy) of Broken Bow, Calvin, John and Clyde of Broken Bow; three great-grandchildren, Skylar of Broken Bow, Rylee and Rayden of Arnold; sister, Jacque Trumbull of Stapleton, Nebraska; sister in-law, Katherine Chu of Kearney, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Grace Trumbull; wife, Elsie; his in-laws, Homer and Maxine Parks; and great grandchild, Mack Wyckoff.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Callaway Community Church in Callaway with Pastor Dean Haidle, officiating.
