For voters who want to learn more about local candidates, a public forum will be held in North Platte on Monday evening for those running for the Ward 4 seat on the city council, as well as those running for the Lincoln County commissioner seats in Districts 1 and 4.

In the two county commissioners’ races, Joe Hewgley and Stuart Simpson face off in District 1. Chris Bruns and Nancy Seifer Nelson are running for the District 4 seat.

All four candidates are Republicans, so the winners will be decided on the primary ballot.

In the city council race, three candidates are running — Aaron Edwards, Nick McNew and Tracy Martinez. The two who receive the most votes will advance to the November election.

The forum will be held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Ag Building. The evening starts with a meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. The question and answer forum begins at 6:30 p.m. It is sponsored by the Lincoln County Cattlemen.

RA video Productions of North Platte is co-producing the forum. A livestream of the event will be available on the RA Productions Facebook for those who cannot attend.

At the Lincoln County Clerk’s office in the courthouse, in-office voting started on Monday, April 15. Also, early ballots are starting to arrive.

Primary Election Day is May 14.
