The Lincoln County Republicans will host a candidate forum from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, April 15 at the North Platte Eagles Club #2839, at 620 N. Chestnut St.

Social time with sloppy joes begins at 6 p.m. and the presentations start at 6:30 p.m.

Each candidate will state their goals for their service in office.

The speakers:

  • John Glen Weaver (U.S. Senate)
  • John Walz (U. S. House of Representatives – 3rd District)
  • Joe Hewgley and Stuart Simpson (Lincoln County Commissioner – Dist. 1)
  • Chris Bruns and Nancy Seifer Nelson (Lincoln County Commissioner – Dist. 4)
  • Aaron Edwards, Nick McNew and Tracy Martinez (North Platte City Council – Ward 4)

The primary election will be held on May 14. Early voting begins a month earlier.

The races between Hewgley and Simpson as well as Bruns and Nelson will be decided in the primary, since the candidates are in the same political party.

In the city council race, one of the three candidates will be eliminated in the primary election. The other two will square off in the general election in November.

Updates on the forum can be found on the organization’s event page on Facebook.

The Lincoln County, Neb. Republicans desire to bring Republicans from across the county together; for encouragement, education, and to share opportunities to promote the values of the conservative Republican Party.
