The Garden City Wind scored 13 runs in the last two innings to blow open what was a close game with the North Platte 80s on Saturday in their 17-1 win at Bill Wood Field.

The 80s lost all five games against Garden City with the last two being at home after the first three were played in Garden City, Kan.

Garden City scored the first two runs in the third inning on a Rob Morosetti double to center field.

The Wind doubled their lead two innings later on Jordan Williams’ two-run single to right.

North Platte scored their only run of the game in the sixth inning when Trevor Nelson scored on a passed ball by catcher Dominic Enbody.

Garden City pulled away by scoring five runs in the eighth and they removed all doubt with eight in the ninth.

The 80s are back on the road and they begin a three-game series in Oklahoma against the Blackwell Flycatchers on Sunday. Their next home game will be on Monday, July 8 against the Santa Fe Fuego.
