The Sutherland wrestling team won another meet on Friday when they took first place at the Elm Creek Invitational.

The Sailors scored 200 points. Twin River was a distant second with 119 and Alma was third at 110 1/2.

Sutherland had six first place finishes. The trio of Matt Bruns, Jon Peterka and Hunter Cook remain undefeated on the season by winning their respective weight classes.

Bruns won at 132 pounds by pinning James Dubbs of Alma in 51 seconds. Peterka won the next class, 138, by getting a 10-2 majority decision over Twin River’s Ashton Johnson. At 152, Cook got a technical fall over Jason Hernandez of the Lexington junior varsity.

Samuel Foster, Ayden Kaps and Oliver Nutter were the two other first place finishes for the Sailors. Foster won at 145 by pinning Jackson Strain of Twin River. Kaps won 160 by defeating Norman Grothe of Twin River, 11-4 and Nutter pinned Evan Millard of Alma in 44 seconds to win at 120.

Cole Kerner (170), Austin Lee (182) and Eric Halsted (195) each finished third to give Sutherland a further boost over the competition.

North Platte St. Pat’s finished sixth in the tournament with 57 points. Justin Schroll won at 195 by defeating Halsted and Jeremy Felix of Alma.

Gaven Nutter and Matthew Phelps had third-place finishes at 138 and 160 pounds, respectively.
