Samuel Foster and Gavin White got first place finishes on Saturday to lead Sutherland to a third place finish at the Garden County Invitational.

The Sailors had 101 points to finish behind Sedgwick County, Colo., who had 123, and Mitchell at 117.

Foster remained undefeated by winning the 120-pound weight class. In the championship match, Foster pinned Hadley Markowski of Mitchell in the first period.

White got first at 170 pounds. In the finals, he defeated Luis Chafino of Holyoke, Colo. by a 6-3 decision.

Sutherland also had a pair of second place finishes. At 132, Jon Peterka lost, 16-4, to Hayden Burr of Sedgwick County in the finals.

Austin Lee made it to the finals at 182, where he was pinned in the first period by Morrill’s Michael Morgan.

The North Platte High School junior varsity also competed in the meet and they finished 13th with 38 points.

The Bulldogs were led by Skyler Geier-Dodson, who got third at 132. They also got fourth place finishes from Ryan Fox (132) and Tyson Krab (195).
