The North Platte High wrestling team finished second at the Beatrice Invitational on Saturday.

The Bulldogs had a score of 257. Beatrice won the seven-team meet with 280. Grand Island was third with 252.

NPHS had two first place finishes on the day. Gavyn Brauer won the 182-pound weight class by defeating Deegan Nelson of Beatrice by a 5-4 decision.

Vince Genatone was victorious at 195. He claimed first place by beating Daylon Keolavone of Grand Island, 5-3.

North Platte had five second place finishes with Kole Weigel, Jaylan Ruffin, Darian Diaz, Ryan Fox and Luke Rathjen.

Four of those five losses in the finals came to Beatrice wrestlers. Trevor Reinke, the wrestler who defeated Darian Diaz at 138, was the Class B champion last year at 132.

Skyler Geier-Dodson, Raymen Riley and Matt Musselmann picked up third place finishes for the Bulldogs.
