William “Bill” Earl Savage, 92, passed away Feb. 23, 2023 at home after a brief illness.
Bill was born Feb. 4, 1931 in Wellfleet to Harold and Laura Wolcott Savage.
He grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1949. After graduation Bill joined the Air Force. He returned to Nebraska after his discharge and pursed his college education.
He married Vera Humphreys of Lincoln on Oct. 20, 1956. Bill had a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Nebraska and a Master Degree in Administrative Science from the University of Alabama Huntsville. He was a member of the Alumni Association of Nebraska and a member of Professional Engineers of Alabama. Bill was also a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Huntsville.
Bill retired from U.S. Army Missile Command in 1998 and pursed his many hobbies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and genealogy.
Survivors include his wife, Vera, daughter, Cheryl of Huntsville, Ala.; daughter, Deborah (Gary) Kipp of Omaha; grandson, Gregory Kipp; granddaughter, Catherine Kipp; brothers, Wesley (Carol) Meyer and Robert Meyer of North Platte; sister, Roberta Barkeloo of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, William E. Savage Jr.; parents; sisters, Eva MacDonald and Louise Gottfried; infant brother, Ronald Poe; and brother, Frank Savage.

Bill will be dearly missed by family and many good friends. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital.
