The annual Vietnam Veteran’s Day observance at Fort McPherson National Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. on March 28, with an added feature this year
The Blue Star Memorial at the cemetery will be formally dedicated at the ceremony. The memorial pays tribute to Blue Star families – those with a U.S. military member who is serving during a time of war.
Mary Carlson Gold, a retired colonel who served in the nursing corps during the Vietnam era, will speak. She was stationed in Okinawa during the war.
Also, Dan Kramer, a past VFW state commander, will address the crowd.
The public is welcome to attend. Veterans and families are especially invited.
The observance will be hosted by Post 1504 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Nebraska Garden Club.
Fort McPherson National Cemetery and Shrine is south of Maxwell, about four miles south of exit 190 on I-80.
