Two North Platte men have been charged with beating up another man and stealing and wallet and keys.
Police received a complaint at 5:10 p.m. on July 23 about a prior assault at a residence in the 100 block of W. William Ave., spokesman John Deal said.
A 24-year-old man told officers that he had been assaulted around 2 a.m. on Sunday, July 19.
The alleged victim said several individuals knocked at his front door and when he answered, Alexander Bernt and Charles Robinson “jumped” him.
Police believe the men are acquainted with one another.
Police were told that Bernt hit the man in the body and head with a wooden handle and Robinson did the same with cupboard handle tucked in the knuckles of his right hand.
The victim suffered chipped teeth and bruises to the head and body that were consistent with his report, police said, plus he said his wallet and house key were stolen in the attack.
The next day, officers had contact with Charles Robinson, 24, at the police department, and charged him with second-degree assault and robbery. On Friday, July 25, police contacted Bernt, 25, at a house in the 800 block of S. Chestnut and charged him with the same crimes.
Bernt is held on a $50,000 bond. There is currently not a court record of Robinson’s bond.
