State troopers recently removed 80 impaired drivers from the road during the Make It Click campaign.

Troopers issued 122 citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations, spokesman Cody Thomas said. The campaign ran from May 12-June 1.

In all, troopers issued citations for:

  • Speeding – 1,812, including 59 citations for more than 100 mph.
  • No seat belt – 91.
  • Improper child restraint – 31.
  • Open alcohol container – 58.
  • Minor in possession – 35.
  • Driving under suspension – 132.

Troopers also performed 665 motorist assists during the campaign, Thomas said.

“As the season continues, we want you to have a safe and fun summer,” said Col. Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “To do that, we need to work together to keep Nebraska’s roadways safe for all who travel them. Remember to wear your seat belt, put your phone down, and always drive sober.”

NSP encourages any motorist who observes a dangerous driver to report it to the NSP Highway Helpline by calling *55. The Make It Click campaign was made possible in part by a grant from the Highway Safety Office of the Nebraska Department of Transportation, Thomas said.
