State troopers arrested a Minnesota man Friday after finding more than 250 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in northern Nebraska.

NSP spokesman Cody Thomas said a trooper pulled a Chevrolet Silverado over on U.S. Highway 20 around 7:30 p.m. with a driver who was known to have a suspended license. The stop occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highways 20 and 81, about 25 miles north of Norfolk.

During the stop, the trooper saw marijuana in plain view in the pickup, leading to a search that turned up several bags of marijuana in the cab and pickup bed. The total weight of the marijuana was 252 pounds. Thomas said.

The driver, Coty Weber, 40, of Saint Peter, Minn. was charged with driving under suspension, possession of more than a pound of marijuana, and possession with intent to deliver. He was taken to the Pierce County jail, Thomas said.

That volume of marijuana is valued at a half-million dollars or more, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency as well as a random sample of prices per pound listed on the internet.
