Caleb Neidhardt of North Platte High broke the Buffalo Bill Invitational records in the 100 and 200 meters on Thursday at the Bulldogs’ annual home track meet at Bauer Field.

Neidhardt won the 100 at 10.76 seconds as he bested Charlie Selzer of Scottsbluff by four-tenths of a second.

In the 200, Neidhardt finished at 21.99 seconds, winning by nearly a whole second over Mason Schmer of Scottsbluff.

“It feels good,” Neidhardt said on breaking the records. “I definitely see some progress I could make in the future.”

The junior Neidhardt is having a breakout season having won all of his races in the sprints this season.

“I think it’s really good, a lot better than last year and it’s all uphill from here,” Neidhardt said.

North Platte also had two second place finishes. Jack Knapp was the runner-up in the 800 meters at 2:01.58. He was edged by Axton Stone of Gering, who had 2:01.14.

The Bulldog 4×800 relay of Jace Kackmeister, Caleb Yanez, James Davis and Brian Titus finished second at 8:28.63, four seconds behind Scottsbluff.

The Bulldog boys as they finished in third place with 68.5 points. It is the first time in a decade NPHS hasn’t won the Buffalo Bill but they faced greater competition with the addition of Kearney, who won with 189 points. Scottsbluff was second at 95.

Hershey finished fifth with 46 points and they were led by Michael Salinas, who won the shot put at 54’9.25″, besting Adrick Teichmeier by three inches.

McClain, Titus lead Lady Bulldogs

Kori McClain won the 800 and 1600 meters to lead the North Platte girls.

In the 800, McClain clocked in at 2:20.89, beating Savannah Bausch of Kearney by four seconds. In the 1600, her time was 5:12.35, winning by 26 seconds over Josephine Gowen of Hastings.

McClain had two of the three first place finishes for the Lady Bulldogs. The other belonged to Katie Titus, who won the discus at 127’7″, six inches further than Greeley Cargill of Kearney.

The North Platte girls finished fourth with 48.5 points. Kearney was again the winner with 197 points. The Bearcats won by 120 points as West Holt was second with 77 and Gering was third with 65.

Hershey finished 10th out of 11 teams with 13 points.
