The North Platte High boys’ track and field team won three events on Friday at the Kearney Invitational.

Aiden Hawks won the 800 meters at 1:58.09, defeating Chanh Tran of Lincoln East by a second. Luke Tegtmeier won the 1600 meters at 4:40.71, defeating Connor Boyle of Lincoln Southwest by eight-tenths of a second.

Hawks and Tegtmeier teamed up to help the Bulldogs win the 4-x-800 meter relay. Hawks, Jack Knapp, James Davis and Tegtmeier clocked in 8:06.92. They cruised past Lincoln East by a full 10 seconds.

Lathen Huntsman finished second in the pole vault at 13’2″. Ike Schmeckpeper of Lincoln East was first at 14’2″.

The NPHS boys finished sixth in the meet with 45 points. Kearney was first with 130 and Lincoln Southwest was second with 107 1/2.

The North Platte girls also finished sixth with 23 points. Kearney was first with 179, beating Lincoln Southwest by nine points.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Kori McClain, who finished second in the 1600 meters at 5:12.07. Abigail Burger of Kearney was first at 5:06.51.

Katie Titus and Keke Williams finished third in the discus and long jump, respectively.

Next, the Bulldogs will compete in the Jo Dusatko Invitational at Omaha Central on Friday, April 18.
