Coltan Ham and Mason Giebler of North Platte St. Pat’s each won two events on Friday at the South Platte Valley Association meet hosted by Perkins County.
Ham won the 1600 and 3200 meters. Ham took the 1600 with a time of 4:46.74 as he won by nearly two seconds over Haven Hauxwell of Chase County. In the 3200, Ham won at 10:11.19 as he defeated Hauxwell by eight seconds.
While Ham dominated the distances, Giebler swept the sprints. In the 100 meters, he posted a time of 10.84 seconds to defeat Dominic Beebout of conference newcomer Valentine by a tenth of a second. Giebler’s time in the 200 was 22.14 seconds. Austin Smith of Chase County was second at 22.55.
The other event won by St. Pat’s was the 800 meters, which Dimitri Pettit won at 2:01.48 as he defeated Brandon Chavira Sanchez of Chase County by four seconds.
The Irish finished third out of eight teams with 90 points. Chase County won with 163 and Hershey was second with 96 points.
In their runner-up finish, the Panthers won three events. Michael Salinas won the shot put with a heave of 58’5.75″ as he bested Noah Rau of Chase County by three feet.
Cole Murdock won the 400 at 51.64 seconds, narrowly edging Kacen Wenzlick of Chase County by eight tenths of a second.
Murdock also anchored Hershey’s winning 4×100 meter relay. Eli Smith, J.T. Lantis, Kale DaMoude and Murdock finished at 43.3 seconds to defeat Chase County by a quarter of a second.
Bringewatt leads Hershey girls
Kenna Bringewatt of Hershey won the girls’ 400 at the SPVA.
Bringewatt’s time was 1:00.88 as she defeated Reata Loomis of Bridgeport, who came in at 1:01.26.
With that being their lone first place finish, the Lady Panthers finished fourth with 54 points. Chase County ran away with first place with 179 points. Perkins County was second with 67 and Mitchell was third with 62.5.
St. Pat’s was fifth at 51.5 and won two events.
Sydney Lake won the 100 meters at 12.31 seconds as she beat Riley Rusher of Chase County by four tenths of a second.
Zaleah Cartwright won the triple jump with a leap of 34’1.75″ as she defeated Lauren Bishop of Perkins County by half a foot.
