Three drivers were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol during a special enforcement on Super Bowl Sunday by the North Platte police.

Sixteen traffic contacts were generated in the 20-hour, grant-funded enforcement period.

Of the 16 drivers who were contacted, three were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Another person was apprehended on a warrant for a previous charge, and another was arrested for driving under suspension, the police department said.

That activity was part of a nationwide “Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk”, campaign against impaired driving.

The police department thanked North Platte residents for their efforts in making Super Bowl Sunday a safe event.
