A Texas man and woman are in the Lincoln County jail, each held on a $250,000 bond, after police charged them in the theft of personal items from clients of a North Platte workout gym.

Corrion L. Walker, 28, is charged with theft as well as possession of a firearm by a felon and burglar’s tools. His companion, Vanessa Sustaita, 24, is charged with aiding and abetting as well as a firearm violation.

North Platte Police Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson said police got the call at 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 that a theft had been committed in the 300 block of E. Fifth. The caller said a man had taken keys, entered vehicles, stole other property, and then left in a red vehicle.

Johnson said surveillance footage located the suspect vehicle, and showed a man entering a business, taking keys, entering vehicles, and leaving with stolen property.

According to an arrest affidavit filed in Lincoln County Court, Walker talked his way inside the door, where he stole keys and a backpack. He got into vehicles parked outside and took a wallet from each vehicle, as well as other items. Police found Walker, Sustaita and the stolen property, a concealed firearm, a small amount of marijuana, and items described as burglary tools.

Walker was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of burglar’s tools, two counts of theft, second degree trespassing, tampering with evidence and possession of an ounce or less than marijuana.

Sustaita was charged with two counts of aiding and abetting and carrying a concealed weapon without disclosing it, plus the marijuana infraction.

Johnson said the criminal charges are allegations, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
