Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Wednesday evening to the intersection of Hall School Road and Twin Lakes Road, northeast of North Platte where a black SUV was in the south ditch.

Sheriff Jerome Kramer said the SUV had rolled over and was heavily damaged. The driver, Christopher Natividad, 39, and three juveniles were outside the vehicle when deputies arrived.

Natividad said he was negotiating the turn from Twin Lakes Road west onto Hall School Road but entered the ditch and the vehicle rolled.

Kramer said the oldest juvenile was 17 years old. The other two were 15. The 17-year-old complained of injuries and said he was having trouble breathing. The deputy reportedly smelled alcohol on the driver. Family members picked up the two 15-year-olds. The 17-year-old was taken to Great Plains Health. He was later flown to Omaha to be treated for a fractured vertebra. He also had a broken nose.

Natividad was taken by a deputy to the hospital for a blood draw to test for alcohol. He refused the test so a search warrant was approved and the blood was drawn. The results have not been released yet.

The occupants, except the injured teenager, said that they were wearing seatbelts, Kramer said.
