A Makers Market craft and vendor fair will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26 downtown on Second St. in Sutherland.

A food court and kid zone will be located in front of the Maxine White Library, organizers said.

Nearly 70 vendors are expected, featuring handmade goods, boutiques, specialty foods and more. Several make-it yourself booths will create custom hats, tee-shirts and stuffed animals ready to use the same day.

The kid zone will be hosted by the Sutherland Scarlet’s dance team. It will have an inflatable bounce house, slide, and other activities.

“Every year this event just keeps growing, and it’s exciting to see downtown Sutherland packed with shoppers and vendors from all over the region,” event organizer Muriel Clark said.

The Sutherland invitational volleyball tournament, hosted by Sutherland public schools, brings in teams from across the state. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and fans in town for the tournament can shop the Makers Market between matches.

Downtown businesses will also be open during the event, including the Mug Coffee Shop, the Longhorn Bar, and Pronto convenience store. The Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Michigan State football game will be shown at Longhorn Bar on an 11-foot big screen.

Also, Makers Market vendors have donated hundreds of dollars in prizes for a giveaway contest that is underway through Friday, Sept. 25. To enter, see Sutherland Makers Market on Facebook and the five steps listed.
