Jose Donato, 25, of Lexington was sentenced Wednesday to 87 months in prison (7.25 years) for conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine.
Following the prison term, Donato will serve three years of supervised release U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly said.
The Honorable John M. Gerrard presided over the case.
Between July 1, 2017 and Sept. 30, 2018, with the assistance of a confidential informant, law enforcement officers completed a series of nine controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Donato and his co-defendants, Rodrigo Bolanos and Arturo Garcia.
Kelly said the case was investigated by the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force, which is composed of members from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, the Nebraska State Patrol, the Grand Island Police Department, the Hall County Sheriff’s Department, the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, the Hastings Police Department, and the Kearney Police Department.
