The Nebraska State Patrol is starting the summer travel season off with the Make It Click campaign.
“Our goal is to create a positive experience for everyone on the road,” said Major Jeff Wilcynski. “To do that, we all need to practice safe driving habits — following the rules of the road, always driving sober, and avoiding distracted driving. One of the most important practices is wearing your seat belt.”
The effort will begin on Monday, May 12 and will run through Sunday, June 1, which are busy travel weeks. NSP is partnering with other law enforcement agencies, including North Platte police, in the Make It Click campaign.
Troopers and NSP dispatchers will work overtime. Troopers will perform high-visibility patrols, watching for dangerous driving behavior. During traffic stops, troopers will look for seat belt violations and thank motorists who are already wearing their seat belt.
NSP’s portion of this campaign is possible thanks in part to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
Any motorist who observes a dangerous driver can report it to the NSP Highway Helpline by calling *55 to reach an NSP dispatcher.
