Due to construction on the Sustainable Beef processing plant, the speed limit on part of Newberry Road on east side of North Platte will be reduced from 55 to 40 mph, effective Monday, March 13.
The lower limit will be in effect on the portion of Newberry between Philip St. and Halligan Drive.
The reduced limit is expected to remain in effect until July 1 or so, the city engineering department said Thursday.
Newberry is a state highway that links I-80 and U.S. Highway 30. Semi-trucks use Newberry to haul dirt to the construction site, where the grade must be raised several feet and compacted to support the plant’s structure.

This will merely be a suggestion since nobody a
bides by the speed limits around here.
No worries, most of our posted speed limits are arbitrary low anyway.
