A Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy recently found a South Dakota man at a North Platte gas station with a stolen car and nearly two pounds of meth inside.
Miguel Pena, 43, of Sioux Falls, S.D. will face charges of meth distribution and possession of stolen property in Lincoln County Court on Thursday, July 10 in Lincoln County Court.
Pena is in the Lincoln County jail, held on a $500,000 bond.
He was arrested at the Cenex gas station at Jeffers and Eugene on June 22. Deputies were on the lookout for the stolen Chevy Malibu that he was driving, according an affidavit of arrest filed with the court. Pena readily admitted the car was stolen. He was cuffed and put in the sheriff’s cruiser and the car was searched, the affidavit said.
The search allegedly turned up two packages of meth in different places in the front seat compartment, weighing a total of 28.6 ounces, as well as a container in the trunk that contained an unspecified among of marijuana.
The silver Malibu had South Dakota license plates.
