North Platte fell, 3-2, in a game-deciding shootout to Kearney Catholic on Monday at Bauer Field.

Kearney Catholic (6-2) went up 1-0 on Pete Homan’s goal in the 13th minute.

The Stars held the lead until halfway through the second half when Evan McCuskey headed in a corner kick from Elmer Guzman to tie the game for North Platte (1-7).

The Bulldogs took the lead with six minutes left when Wudit Dasen made a penalty kick. But two minutes later, Kearney Catholic got a penalty kick of their own and Braedyn Bergsten made it to tie the game.

The game remained knotted for the rest of regulation and the 20 minutes of overtime. The shootout went past the first five shooters until the Stars edged the Bulldogs.

Next, NPHS will play at Holdrege (2-3) on Thursday.
